Praying with the Angels

S  A  N  C  T  U  S

Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus,
Dominus Deus Sabaoth
Pleni Sunt Caeli et Terra, Gloria Tua
Hosanna in excelsis
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini
Hosanna in excelsis

We know this prayer well; we pray it at every holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  It is the prayer of the angels, entirely ordered to GOD, for His glory.  It has such a power that it has become a terror of demons.  We can safely say:  this prayer is our lay exorcism;  it is the fastest and surest weapon in every temptation, in every oppression.  It immediately cleans and clears the air around us.  Joy, confidence, fortitude and a great love for GOD enter our hearts.  All the jumble of daily life, which wants to wear us out, falls away when we pray this prayer slowly and with devotion. The  Sanctus stands before us like a blazing torch, like a stake which we can drive directly into the ground:   H e r e  is GOD's ground!  Where the Sanctus stands, no demon positions himself any more; the ground is as if glowing hot for him.
